  1. P-51D GUNNERY PRACTICE

  3. In early June, 1944, the Eighth Air
  4. Force began to receive a new variant of
  5. the P-51: the D version.  Although
  6. pilots really loved the Mustang, they
  7. complained about the limited rear
  8. visibility.  North American fitted a
  9. teardrop canopy onto the P-51, which
  10. allowed for 360-degree visibility. 
  11. Other improvements to the P-51 included
  12. the addition of one more .50 caliber
  13. machine gun in each wing, bringing the 
  14. total firepower to six guns.  The P-51D
  15. was built in greater numbers than any 
  16. other Mustang, with 7,956 produced.

  20. Flying over the coast of southwestern
  21. Holland, you encounter three different
  22. pairs of fighters on patrol.  The enemy
  23. planes will not evade your attack, but 
  24. you'll have plenty of opportunities for 
  25. deflection shooting.  To be accurate in 
  26. a deflection shot, you must lead your
  27. target so that your bullets intercept
  28. its line of flight.

  30. Your P-51D cannot be damaged and has
  31. unlimited ammunition.

  33. Your mission will not end automatically.
